Dear Families,

Welcome to a new year at Cayuse!  I can’t believe  it is that time already; the summer flies by so fast.   

For those of you who don’t know me already, I am a 6th grade homeroom teacher.  My primary role is that of the 6th grade math and science teacher; these are my favorite classes to teach.     This year I will teach the Engineering/Robotics block class as well.     Ms. Capaci0 teaches social studies and ELA for all sixth grade students 

A little about me… This is my 22nd  year as a teacher in Montana and my fifteenth  year at Cayuse.  My family (husband and two dogs) lives in Woods Bay, just south of Bigfork.  I also have two bonus daughters (step-daughters) who have flown the nest.     Outside of school, we love to enjoy all of the outdoor activities that Montana has to offer:  hiking, backpacking, fishing, biking, playing in the lake, and skiing in the winter.   

Prior to school starting, you will find a Smore newsletter from me that outlines curricular programs, communication formats, and general classroom procedures - keep an eye out for that in your email the week of August 17th.  The newsletter will answer many questions that you may have for this school year.    You can prepare your child by making sure that they have all of the appropriate school items - including clean-bottomed sneakers for PE - by the start of the school year.  On that note, if you do have clean and usable sneakers that your child has outgrown, Mr. Nickel could use them in his spare sneaker bin.   

We do have  two adventures planned for this year.     We will go skiing at Blacktail Mountain - they do an incredible job of providing lessons at all ability levels.    Additionally, we are scheduled to visit the Flathead Lake Biological Station in Yellow Bay this fall as a supplement to our science curriculum.   As each field trip nears, I will put out a request for chaperones.
